Women’s sports have come a long way since trailblazers like Wilma Rudolph, Billy Jean King, and Althea Gibson. Today, women’s sports are more popular than ever, and female athletes are making more money than ever—both good things. But, as with everything in life, there’s also a downside. Namely, with all that glory and money at stake, more female athletes are turning to performance enhancing drugs than ever before. And while some of them are smart and use the cutting edge drugs that are hard to detect, some of them are (apparently) quite stupid and use the old-fashioned ones that make you look like a freak. I mean, if you thought Barry Bonds looked ridiculous with his Popeye arms and big inflated BALCO balloon head, you should check out the cyclist on this list with the man-sized guns and the five o’clock shadow. Yikes.

In the 1980s, thanks to iodophobia, iodine was replaced with bromine in the bread-making process. 31 Bromide is a goitrogen and interferes with iodide utilization by the thyroid gland, 32-34 and possibly by the mammary gland also. 35 Iodine has an anticarcinogenic effect on the breast. 30 The last national nutritional survey showed a trend of decreasing iodine intake by the US population. 30, 31 Currently 15% of the US adult female population excreted in their urine less than mg iodide/L, a level classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as iodine deficiency. One must keep in mind that the amounts of daily intake of iodine set by the WHO were recommended with the goal of preventing simple goiter and stupidity (cretinism), not sufficiency of the whole human body for iodine, an amount we estimated to be 100-fold higher than the recommended daily intake. 30 Concurrent with the decreased intake of iodine/iodide and increased intake of bromine in the US population, a trend of increasing prevalence of cancers of the mammary and thyroid glands was reported. 30

[ Editor's Note: Chryste Gaines, MBA, Olympic gold and bronze medal sprinter and former teammate of Marion Jones in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games, stated the following in a Dec. 22, 2008 email to in response to the IOC ruling:

"We are being unfairly punished. If the drug testing agencies cannot determine if an athlete is taking performance enhancing drugs how are the teammates supposed to know?... It negates all the family functions, church functions, and social events we missed in the name of winning an Olympic medal." ]

The rash is the same all the time, it randomly itches, especially at night, after I get out of a hot shower, it itches in the shower when the hot water hits my legs & body, little areas on my back itch, & bumps appear. I’ve had bed bugs before, not anymore (I’m sure of it) & these new bites resemble the bed bug bites I used to get; when I feel an itch, I scratch it & a bump would rise & the area would turn red. These new bites/ rash is a bit different though- like you said if I sleep in a different place I can tell for sure- when me & my boyfriend both sleep at a night at his house in Coney Island, the itching appears the same in the shower & before I go to sleep at night- as to when we spend the night at my house in the same bed & shower. Not to get too personal, but explain a little more; we sleep in the same bed, take a shower at the same time, use the same body soap, wash ragg, towels, sheets, & sometimes clothes, we are also sexually active, so we think what we’re doing is basically pass it back & forth to eachother because of the skin-to-skin contact continuely, therefore if its scabies I would think this would explain everything. But I’m still clueless as to what to do, nor what I could do. You mentioned taking oral Benadryl, we did that & that stopped the itching but for only a couple of hours. You also mentioned skin follicles, I deff. have no doubt that it could be this, because we haven’t been in a hot tub, & the rash/ bites are presistant all over our bodies.
You wanted to know more about if the itchy changed- No, it doesnt, its been the same for about 2 months now. Except the itchiness isn’t so intense on my inner theighs & no more red veins are popping out like broken blood vessels. Yes, it does lessen 3-4 hours after a hot a shower. No, there is no crusting or scaling at all, so I guess that rules out hives. Any more questions would help me clarify & explain more detail in this.
There is also no mm burrows on our waists or wrists, no tiny red veins, just some itchy random bumps, sometimes they appear & start itching for like 30 minutes straight, then they stop itching, go away, then return again sometime in the night. Lastly you also mentioned; cholinergic urticatia, I’m about to look more into that, I’m not sure what that is, I never heard of it. Thank you for all your help, I hope everything I stated can help yet again indentify this so I can cure it already. Thanks again
